    Reny - 5.18.18

Today's technology has made it possible for anyone to pick up a camera (or even an iPhone) and proudly proclaim themselves a photographer! But this isn't necessarily an evil thing, it has allowed some to express themselves whom otherwise wouldn't have been able to 20 years ago. I consider myself an artist first and photographer 2nd, although depending on who you ask, those two terms are one in the same.

This blog represents my never ending exploration and learning into my self expression using the camera as my tool. Although I do a great deal of commercial work these days, my focus is almost always finding ways to express myself artistically by communicating with my viewers with each new image I create.

It’s raining outside…(which has nothing to do at all with this post)

Gabrielle Bezett..  I first saw her un-tattooed in a skimpy bikini on Model Mayhem about 2 years ago.   Her pictures at the time weren’t up to par with her level,  but she herself looked like she had some great potential. 5’9″, dark skin, dark hair, pretty face etc… Someone with whom I thought I’d like to try and capture one day.  Fast forward 2 years, I stumble on this brunette with some stars on her side and half sleeve of tattoos…ah it’s Gabrielle! The pretty bikini model whom I never got to shoot just peaked my interest level again!

MUA: Renee Ramos - Model: Gabrielle Bezett

Here she is with Renee Ramos (no relation, it’s just coincidence we have similar names and are both dead sexy) getting her makeup on.   A big thanks to Renee for coming out on her birthday (Happy Birthday) to do some hair and makeup.  It’s Very  much appreciated!

All we went with was some dark eyes, pinkish lips and a few curls in the Doo.   Looking at the RAW files I can see we captured a few very nice images.  Can’t wait to get to editing.  Which will be SOON given the 1 week deadline.

I’m not sure of the newstand date, but keep your eye out for the Inked Girls 2nd Issue.  1st Issue still on display till end of March I believe.   Or visit Inked.com and subscribe!

Mrs. Ramos (and Ms. Ramos too) and more Inked Girls news…

Friday evenings model fell through for the shoot but the MUA, Renee Ramos (no relation…honestly, just coincidence) was still game to play!  So I asked the wife if she’d like to pose for a few…Not overly experienced shooting with a white background, it was cool to experiment.

We did 2 looks – this being the only edit’s so far…I just keep going back and forth on a cool or warm tone.  What you think?

I have another look to edit, will get them up soon!

I get an email yesterday from Inked asking for some new submissions for the 2nd Issue…AWESOME!  Deadline March 10th! WTF!!! Luckily I had some girls waiting on my to shoot, just need to try and fit them in…and FAST.   But I did get them to give me a lil more time with the deadline.  So stay tuned for some new tattoo images!

Erika…

Sorry guys!  I was kidnapped by a rogue band of Siberian models traveling the Southern US like gypsies, thus prohibiting me from doing any shooting…(actually Superbowl and Mardi Gras kept me busy)   But I’m filling the schedule with some long over do shooting.  Those of you I have been turning down, sorry…

Till then…

Behind the back

Sunlight...

This is Erika.  1 of 3 sisters I was hired to shoot in late January.  Just finally finishing up all the images.  All 3 did fabulous work, (but being hired for these I can’t show’em all).  Erika however I’ll be shooting again hopefully for use in a Hungarian magazine that will be doing a write up on some of my work.

1st 2 images were a pleasant surprise.  I wanted to use the stairwell but it was a little tight to put up some lights so I just used the windows.  These came out to be some of my favorite images of the set.  Blown highlights and all…

I hadn’t shot any swimsuit stuff in a while and these almost didn’t happen as it was quite a bit nippley outside, but I really liked how some of these came out!

So look forward to some more Erika.  Hopefully shooting within the next couple weeks.

Dick - Oh man, those are fantastic! I really love #2 there…great angle, great smile, great lighting!

French Quarter Shoot 1.23.2010

I had bought the wife a Canon Vixia HF20 for Christmas and stole it this past weekend to try and get some candid footage for a shoot.   3 photographer friends flew down for the weekend for some work and play!  Also grabbed a ton of good Saint’s Tailgating footage, but I’ll get to that later.

I’ll do a proper edit later one once I “acquire” the good software!  But here’s somewhat what went down.

shortened reedit

Travel Trailer…

I was going to post a big long description of this shoot, maybe explain who the model is, where she’s from, how she got to be where she is….basically all that I learned while shooting her….but after reviewing these shots, I found they are too interesting and it would do no justice to them by giving you the information.   Let your imagination take it…come back here and comment what you think of the shots.   I was hesitant to share them at first with the whole public, but  after a few reviews and feed back from others urging me to…here they are.

Destination Nowhere

Digital shots – Canon 5DMKII, 35mm L series, natural light  – click image for gallery

I’ve decided to only edit them to B&W and keep them as real and honest as the content.

christy - Reny, these are some of the best pictures I’ve seen from you ever. She could be anyone.. someones daughter, a run a way, just a girl travelling.. it’s simple, natural and raw.. Awesome job.. ;)

I posted this on facebook.. but it was worth repeating..

leila k - RENY, Ive loved your work since I first found you on myspace but this DEFFF tops it off…this is art, talent, and being a naturalist at its finest… i wish i could do some work with you!!! You really should do more shoots like this..not all naked of course but the way you captured this girl in such a raw element is amazing!! DO MORE WORK LIKE THIS..it suites you!!

leila k - lol i didnt even read the person above mes comment before i wrote my thoughts how funny that we thought the same thing!!

flip - Thank you very much ladies!! And Leila, even though we are a bit far maybe someday we’ll get to shoot in 2010!

leila k - hey im not that far..lol..just 2 hrs!!

lyd - these are real & honest. Much more appealing than naked posed models trying to be perfectly beautiful. These photos make u feel somethng when u view them. Great work lil brother.

Amy S. Enyart - Very nice! Are you processing the film from the Holga yourself?

BILLY DUGGER - Very nice, Reny. Are there more? Reminds me of old Life Magazine photo essays.

BILLY DUGGER - Well, I goofed. Finally figured out the gallery’s operation. Very nice indeed. Great model. How’d you luck into this situation? Would like to see more images of her going through her day and how she abides in the trailer i.e., such things are cooking, washing dishes, bathing, communicating (does she have a computer hookup) etc., all the things that life entails. Good work, guy. Congrats.

Dick - Dude. Seriously. BY FAR my favorite shoot of yours!!! But, methinks, you knew it would be. This is my kind of photography….natural light, and natural subject. The Holga shots were amazing, and your digital shots were PERFECT. After looking at the Holga shots (first) I thought, no way could your digi shots capture her & that scene like I just saw in the film pics. I actually almost didn’t click on the 2nd gallery because I didn’t want it to spoil what I had just seen. But I’m GLAD I did, because they were just as true and raw to form as the Holga.

I’m officially inspired.

George - Found your site by chance – and quickly bookmarked it! A fantastic set of shots; You captured her beauty, vulnerability, playfulness and sensuousness perfectly. I like the shots from the Holga best – the softness adds to the artistry while the digital “perfection” gives more a feeling of a clinical voyeur.

Jo - All i can say is Wow!!!!!!! Besides that… even as an artist, I am left speechless!
